A little history
In the eighteenth century the first official regulations related to the organisation of business studies emerged. The degree in commerce, as such, was created by the Royal Decree of 8 September 1850, establishing Schools of Commerce in Madrid, Barcelona, La Coruña, Malaga, Santander, Sevilla and Valencia.
The General Education Act of 1970 restructured the Schools of Commerce, which became known as University Schools of Business Studies, accounting for technical studies of the university first cycle in the field of its specialty. In 1972, The Valencia School of Commerce became part of the University of Valencia, known as the University School of Business Studies.
On 29 December 1966 was approved the creation of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Valencia starting the most recent history of economic studies in the city of Valencia.

Creation of the Faculty of Economics
Finally, in 2000, by agreement, the Board of Trustees at the University of Valencia approved the proposal for the creation of the Faculty of Economics and eliminated the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences and the University School of Business Studies at the University of Valencia-General Study.
